Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “değersiz sindirilebilirler”) teşhismlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine rabıtlanmasıyla oluşan kısa polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız lakırtııntısı ile öbürü arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” veya peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (veya çok nüshada polipeptit ast birimi barındırır). Anayasa fark peptitlerin kısa, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi sırasında her amino hamız, öteki amino asite sabah akşam, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle rabıtlanır. Polipeptid gestaltsına taşlıklan amino asitlerin her biri gestaltya peptid rabıtlarıyla rabıtlanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu sırasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir deniz çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Vasati bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Malum en uzun polipeptit, takribî 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda mevcut “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine taşlıklan amino asitlere lakırtııntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki lakırtııntı, bağ yapmamış, muaf amino grubu barındırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin öteki ucundaki muaf α-karboksil grubu olan lakırtııntıevet C ucu adı verilir.
